I encourage all Pet Parents to visit Pet Sitters International to learn about interviewing Pet Care Providers:
Interviewing process for pet owners is available at Pet Sitters International. An informative Pet Owners tool {interviewing pet sitters} is provided by P.S.I. and is as important for Pet Sitters.
Did you know...... A dogs ear is very sensitive, full of sensory nerves that help to preserve hearing. Never, blow into a dogs ear, even gently can hurt a dog. It's not the actual act of wind, but the frequency at which you blow. It's like running your fingers on a blackboard, amplified hundreds of times.
A male dog urinates with one leg up to better mark his territory. The scent can tell him many things, including size and health. The size is judged by the height of the stain. Male dogs although, do notactually need to lift their leg.
"According to tests made at the Institute for the Study of Animal Problems in Washington D.C., dogs and cats like people, are either right-handed or left-handed; that is, they favor either their right or left paws".
Medical Information and Vaccines for dogs. The usual vaccines for dogs will include Distemper, Parvovirus, Coronavirus, Hepatitis and Parainfluenza. Depending on area, risk or exposure, Lyme disease and Bordatella recommended.
PUPPY POINTERS Check your house for dangerous plants. Tips: lilies, philodendrons, poinsettias and dieffenbachias are all poisonous to dogs.
You can treat bee and wasp stings on puppy paws with simple home remedies like apple vinegar, lemon juice, and calamine. For stings around the head and face, please see your veterinarian.
Playtime matters to puppies. In addition to several daily walks, play with your puppy for at least 20 minutes (more for older puppies and larger breeds). A fun game of fetch or chase helps your puppy develop physically and mentally.
Puppies have 28 temporary teeth that erupt at about three to four weeks of age. They have 42 permanent teeth that begin to emerge at about four months of age. Puppies should receive first vaccine at 6-8 weeks of age, and then have boosters at 12 and 16 weeks of age. Certain pups, namely Doberman Pinschers, Rottweilers and Pit Bulls should probably have a 4th Booster as they can have problems developing complete immunity, especially to parvo.
Medical Information and Vaccines for cats. Adult cats: should receive a yearly checkup and booster as part of their health maintenance program. Many people think that indoor only cats need no vaccination. Unfortunately, most feline diseases are airborne, or can be carried in on clothing and shoes with ease. The regular or usual vaccines every cat should have is the Distemper-Rhino-Calici and Pneunmonitis combination, and this vaccine will be given to both kittens and adult cats.
Lastly, one very important suggestion must, please remember to clean up after your dog. Be sure to bookmark Lors Paws for all of your pet's needs.
